Chambal Challenge is a race that allows participants to choose a distance that they have not attempted before or if they have run the distance before it challenges them to explore their real mettle on a terrain that is rugged, scenic, smooth and challenging. Definitely not for those who want to log in their personal best time for a given distance.
RARAMURI: ‘the lighted footed one’. The event draws inspiration from legendary ultra distance runners of the “Tarahumara” tribe who live in Mexicos’s remote Copper Canyon and call themselves ‘Raramuri’, means “runners on foot” or “the light footed one”. The most striking part of Tarahumara runner’s isn’t just the ability to run ultra distances as a ritual but also do this as a part of socialization rather than competition.
‘Raramuries’, for us represent a person who run for the joy of running, who embodies team spirit, love people more than goods and honor other’s respect as much as his own. Men and women who go beyond as a way of being. A fine embodiment of thought and action who inspire a generation.
Another thing that connects Chambal Challenge to Tarahumaras who live and run in cooper canyons of Western Mexico is the deep gorges and rough canyons of Chambal Valley.
